FIELD NOTES / 02 — THE SEISMIC RECORDER
Small signals.
Deep activity.
A ten-minute strip of canonical Avalanche Gateway swaps. Read the marks—and the spaces the source cannot support.

HOW TO READ IT
Time only as precise
as its source.
Known canonical block time gets a position. An absent time gets a poll-span band; missing coverage gets hatching. Empty ink is never proof of zero trading.
┆Peak height → real swap density. Every known-time event gets a colored peak. A busier ten-second bin gives taller peaks; dollar prices are not needed.
▧Band → time unknown. Its width is the successful-observation span, not a fabricated trade time. Earlier records are counted in the gutter.
∿Burst label → real swaps per ten seconds. At twelve or more observed swaps per bin, a count/10s label and decaying wiggle mark a busy interval—not a dollar-valued whale.
▨Hatching → no observation. Missing successful polls and source-old periods are gaps. Reduced motion stops the scrolling timer but preserves direct redraws.
SOURCE / canonical Avalanche Gateway → same-origin
../api/feed. Visible tabs poll every 15 seconds; hidden tabs pause. Errors retain the last-good observation. Diagonal no-data spans begin after two missed intervals; unsupported USD stays null with an explicit reason.
